Kamloops summers get hot and they get smoky, and a cooling system here does two jobs at once: holding the temperature and keeping the windows shut. We install central air where a home already has ductwork, ductless systems where it does not, and we repair cooling equipment of every make and model. Sizing is done in the house, because an oversized unit cools fast, shuts off, and leaves the humidity and the stale air behind.
Central Air Conditioning
If the house already has ductwork, a central system is usually the cheapest way to cool the whole place evenly. We install matched air conditioners and evaporator coils, check that the existing ducting can carry the airflow, and set the equipment where it will not run hot against a south wall or keep a bedroom awake. Older systems still running R22 refrigerant are worth replacing rather than recharging.
Ductless Mini Splits
Not every space has ducting, and running new ductwork through a finished house is rarely worth it. A ductless system puts a head in the room and the compressor outside, which suits basement suites, additions, shops, offices and older homes on hot water heat. Most units heat as well as cool, so one install covers a room that has always been too warm in July and too cold in January.
Air Conditioning Repair
Cooling that runs constantly without dropping the temperature, a unit icing over, a breaker tripping every afternoon, or a system that hums but never starts, all of it points somewhere specific. A technician diagnoses on site, explains the fault and quotes the repair before the work begins. We service every make and model, including systems installed by somebody else years ago.
Cooling Maintenance
The cheapest cooling repair is the one caught in May rather than in the first week of thirty degree weather. A cooling tune up covers the refrigerant charge, the coils, the electrical connections and the condensate drain, and on a heat pump it includes the reversing valve and the defrost cycle. Dust and wildfire smoke load the filters hard here, so airflow gets checked every visit.
